After years of navigating the relentless hustle of urban life, we’ve decided to step away from a society that feels increasingly disconnected, stressed, and dependent on systems that don’t align with our values. Big government and corporations have built a world that thrives on convenience and control but is often far removed from traditional values which this country was founded. There’s an agenda that stands in the way of a healthy genuine connection to nature and community.
Making a Change
We’re trading in traffic, fluorescent lights, and processed foods for dirt roads, snow-covered fields, and meals made from farm-grown ingredients. We are just getting started and like most folks – on a strict budget. Regardless, our small homestead, nestled in the wooded beauty of rural Maine, is a step toward a simpler, more intentional existence. We’re moving towards a life that looks a little more like the one our great-grandparents lived—rooted in self-reliance, hard work, and respect for the land.
This change is not just about leaving behind the noise, but, embracing a deeper sense of freedom and peace. It’s about eating fresh, natural foods grown with care. It’s about working with our hands, finding happiness in the change of the seasons, and learning the traditional, old ways that kept families alive and thriving for generations.
Our Journey Has Begun
This journey hasn’t and will not be easy, but that’s part of the beauty. It’s not about trying to do something easy. No – it’s about doing something rewarding. We want to share our story, our successes, and even our failures as we carve out our new life.
This is more than a lifestyle change; it’s a stand against an agenda being pushed by media, corporations – and even many in our own government. It’s a return to what’s real. And it’s the adventure of a lifetime.
The Future
We’ve been on the property for less than two years. We are just getting started. Budget constraints allow us only to move forward on the bigger project so fast. With the severe seasonal changes here in Maine certain projects can only be completed during certain times of the year. Prioritizing with limited time and budgets is critical. All the while we continue to learn more about canning and other ways to preserve food, as well as work to eat cleaner and live happier.
Welcome to our homestead journey.
