Keith and Kass’s journey started a few years ago when their lives crossed paths, and they instantly clicked. After getting to know each other, Keith’s job gave him a promotion and the two decided to move to Georgia together. It was an exciting time full of new opportunities and dreams for the future. They made Georgia their home for almost two years, making memories and enjoying the adventure.
But life had more twists and turns ahead. Keith’s job changed, and they found themselves moving to South Carolina, where they chose to live full-time in a camper. It wasn’t always easy, but they grew closer while learning to live simply and adapt to new surroundings. Not long after, Keith earned another promotion, and they moved to Kentucky, still living in their camper, this time along the beautiful Ohio River. They soaked in the scenery and made the best of every moment.

In 2021, everything changed when Kass’s daughter shared the wonderful news that she was expecting her first baby. Kass knew she had to go back to Maine to be closer to her family. Early in 2022, during a cold and snowy Maine winter, Kass started searching for a place where they could settle down. In February, she found the perfect spot—a cozy 5-acre hunting camp in the woods—and made it their own.

Keith soon joined Kass in Maine, and they got straight to work turning the property into their dream homestead. Even though they both work full-time, they spend their free time building gardens, working on projects, and planning for the future. Progress has been slow – but steady.
Keith and Kass have many ongoing projects that keep them busy and excited about their homesteading journey. They’re hard at work building a second garden to grow even more fresh produce and constructing a sturdy chicken coop to raise hens for eggs. A priority is to replace the roof of the mudroom which is very much needed. Plans for a greenhouse are also in the works, giving them the ability to extend the short Maine growing season.

Property security has become a priority, as they want to ensure their homestead remains safe and peaceful. In addition, they continue their efforts toward food preservation, stocking their pantry with canned goods and dried herbs, and learning more about natural medicine to support their health. With every project, they’re building a more self-reliant and sustainable lifestyle.

Their story is about love, teamwork, and creating a warm, welcoming home—a place that reflects their dreams and the life they’re building together.
